Flavor Slice

I'm at Halcyon, sitting on a funky couch this Sunday afternoon. Across from me are two girls who could be sisters. Both are reading gilt-edged books (Bibles?), both are very alternaretrochic, and both are marking their copies of the good book as they study. Halcyon serves both alcohol and caffeine, so perhaps this venue offers dual opportunities to save souls. Both girls have ankle tatts. One is in a camouflage hoodie, and the other in a Kelly green retro-cardigan, barefoot. The one drink between them, a crimson iced something, sits full, untouched, sweating.

The interior is dark dark dark, but the windows are blown bright, which gives one's pupils a workout. My hangover is almost gone, soothed away by a phat chocolate brownie and a double Americano. It is Sunday in Austin, Texas.

Monte, could you take a picture of yourself at a cool coffee house viewing my McClure project? McClure site.

In an effort to get Steve M. to quit badgering me about his Flash site, I will indulge his photo opp request. Luckily, I happen to be in the Austin coffeehouse "Flightpath" at 51st and Duval at the moment. Here you go, Steve-O:

One thing I have to hand to you, there is a great improvement in quality of life w/ a warm weather climate, even if it's hotter than hell in the summer. Tradeoffs for every region in the country.

You may consider Dallas, Tucson, or Portland.

Yeah, Austin, it seems like a cool place. I'm reconsidering the southwest too.

Ice Coffee? Yeah, I know it's getting rather hot outside. Just wait, it will be so damn hot and humid there, it will make you sick. The dry heat in AZ is much more comfortable, but tends to feel like the inside of an oven in the summer. Live strong, Monte, and remember the tradeoffs.

Where are you relocating from? Why do you want to come to Texas, do you like Texans or something? Leave Texas alone and stop coming here trying to make it like your messed up state, most likely california. And by the way californians, stop moving to Arizona and trying to make it like you messed up state of california. Arizonans are sick of you too! You don't see Arizonans and Texans moving to liberal states like california and trying to make them conservative do you? Quit moving to conservative states and trying to make them liberal states. Leave us alone! Ya freakin' bullies, always tryin' to force your ways and views down other peoples throats.

You most likely will not post my last comments will you, about libs forcing their views/ways. Figures, open minded, diversity, freedom of 'expression' all that is only when it serves or supports your views, eh. Figures.

EastCali,
Where are you getting your information? I was born in Illinois, and relocated from Seattle. On this blog, I have identified the reasons why Americans are moving from coastal cities to the interior. If your personal happiness is tied to the concept of an unchanging world, well, good luck to you.

EastCali, when any new ideas try to pierce your thick skull, they bounce off like a golf ball hitting asphalt.
